Reach Active
A youth-led, movement-based project connecting young people through sport, community, and consistent youth work.
Reach Active
Funded by Sport England’s Movement Fund & National Lottery Players
We’re proud to announce that Reach Rainhill C.I.C. has been awarded funding from Sport England’s Movement Fund, made possible by National Lottery players, to launch Reach Active in 2025.
This funding will enable us to deliver six months of enhanced detached youth work in Rainhill, combining the trusted principles of youth work with our unique, mental health–informed approach. By embedding movement and informal sport into our outreach, we will create meaningful engagement opportunities for young people aged 11–18 who might otherwise be overlooked by traditional provision.

About the Project
Reach Active is a new initiative from Reach Rainhill C.I.C., funded by Sport England’s Movement Fund and made possible by National Lottery players. It aims to create safe, trusted spaces for young people in Rainhill through regular detached youth work and inclusive physical activities shaped by young people’s voices.
Delivered through weekly street-based sessions, Reach Active combines movement, informal sport, and relationship-building to support wellbeing, inclusion, and local belonging. It’s led by experienced youth workers and shaped by what local young people have told us they need: someone to talk to, something to do, and somewhere they feel seen.
⸻
Our Enhanced Detached Approach
We call it clinically informed, informally delivered youth work. Every Reach Active session will:
• Be delivered in the public spaces where young people already gather; parks, estates, and high streets.
• Include movement-based activities that are fun, inclusive, and adaptable to different abilities.
• Use a mental health–aware approach to build trust, improve confidence, and reduce social isolation.
• Offer low-barrier participation; no kit, no cost, no booking.
• Provide ongoing connection, with staff able to signpost and support young people into other opportunities.
This means Sport England’s investment is not only increasing physical activity – it’s also strengthening young people’s emotional wellbeing, confidence, and community connection.
⸻
Our Commitment
Over six months we will:
• Deliver weekly detached sessions for 11–18-year-olds.
• Ensure young people help shape the activities.
• Build partnerships with local clubs and community groups to continue the work beyond the project.
• Capture young people’s voices and stories to evidence the impact of movement and trusted relationships.
